My Favourite Pictures and Memories from October

Hello everyone!

Here’s another post that’s part of the ESG: My favourite picture of the month October swap on Swap-Bot.

This month has been very hectic due to events with my jewellery stall and projects for university. Luckily I have a few photos to share.

The first two photos are from rAge Expo, which is a gaming and geek convention. I had my jewellery stall there the whole weekend. It was awesome, but I got barely any sleep! These were my two cosplay looks for the weekend – the first being Megara the forest nymph (the tattoo on my arm – I will write a blog post about her sometime soon). The second was my Little Sister cosplay from Bioshock. I made the cosplay myself and I am so happy with it!

The next one is an adorable photo of my three rats sleeping in their hammock! From left to right, they are: Dovahkiin, Eddie and Merlin! They don’t often sleep in the same spot at the moment because it’s so hot, so I just had to capture this moment.

My university’s year end function theme was Rebels & Outlaws and a few people begged me to dress Goth so I did 🙂 Here I am with my research methodology lecturer Hawken and my Brand Challenge cheerleader (the lecturer that was assigned to my group for Brand Challenge to keep up our morale), Amelia. We made up a story that they were a couple and I was their lovechild because our outfits matched so perfectly!

And lastly, here’s my boyfriend and I on Halloween. We decided to go as vampires, because he hates dressing up and it was the least amount of effort xD

I hope you enjoyed hearing about my month!

My Favourite Pictures and Memories from September

Hello everyone!

Here’s another post that’s part of the ESG: My favourite picture of the month September swap on Swap-Bot.

On 3rd September, I had a stall at the Medieval Fayre! Here’s how my stall looked. I was dressed up as a Gothic elf.

Here’s myself and my friend Annari at Attrition, which is our only regular Goth event. I always love dressing up for Attrition!

I had a group project for university that spanned over most of August and September. It was called Brand Challenge and here is a photo of our group.

It was my birthday on the 26th and I went out for dinner with my family. We asked the waiter to take a photo of us and he said we should take a funny photo as well, hehe.

On the 28th it was my brother’s birthday and we went out for cake. This is a cookies and cream cake and it was delicious!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my favourite memories from September!

My Favourite Pictures and Memories from July

Hello everyone!

Wow this year is flying! I can’t believe another month has passed already. This post is part of a swap on Swap-Bot called ESG: My favourite picture of the month July.

I did this photoshoot on 10 July and I had so much fun! I am so in love with the result as I have wanted to do a shoot like this with my electric violin for a long time.

Next up is a photo I took of myself to promote the new scarab beetle necklace that I made for my jewellery business. I tried to match my makeup with the necklace and really liked the result.

I also bought these amazing New Rock boots secondhand from someone. They are definitely my favourite shoes that I own! I have wanted New Rocks for many years but could never afford them so I was so happy that I managed to snatch these up as they are in excellent condition!

The last photo is my look for a goth event I went to. I have been under a lot of stress lately so decided to really have fun and dress up for this one. I really like how it came out and got lots of compliments on the night.

I hope you enjoyed my photos!

Thrift Fair(s) Haul

Hello everyone!

I love thrifting because it’s an opportunity to get new additions to your wardrobe at an affordable price. I often find very nice items that become staples in my Gothic wardrobe.

Unfortunately in South Africa there aren’t many thrift stores and the ones we do have don’t have a large variety of clothing. This weekend I was so excited that there were TWO thrift fairs happening, organised by different people. I went with my friend from Clarens, who is visiting Pretoria for a while!

I got some really awesome things from both of them, so here are the things I got! Sorry for the poor quality photos. It’s very dark in my apartment and raining outside, so this is the best I could do.

The Harvest Thrift Fair at +27 Cafe – Saturday 23rd July

This thrift fair had free entry and was made up of different thrifty sellers selling their goods. I only bought items from two sellers – Backyard Vintage and Wear It Again. Here’s what I got!

IMG_20160726_102714

Black top with ruffles and sheer sleeves. From Wear It Again.

IMG_20160726_102809

Black velvet crop jacket. From Wear It Again.

IMG_20160726_102639

Green sheer top with ruffles, buttons and bows! From Backyard Vintage.

IMG_20160726_102836

Long-sleeved velvet top. From Backyard Vintage.

And my favourite find for the day…

IMG_20160726_102537

El Dante’s platform boots! They have to be glued in a few places and will be dyed and painted black. From Backyard Vintage.

The Thrift Fair at Fort Schanskop, Voortrekker Monument – Sunday 24th July

This one did not feature different sellers. Instead, they had all the items together in a hall on railings, tables and other displays. I found that the prices here were much more reasonable in general. Here’s what I got!

IMG_20160726_102741

Black lace top with ruffle and button detail.

IMG_20160726_103311

Zip up top. This kind of reminds me of a military look and it is going to be customised with zippers and spikes.

IMG_20160726_102610

Black cowboy boots! I have no idea what I’m going to wear these with yet but I think they will look cool.

I also got this dress that I will be using for a shoot! As you can see, I have started removing the golden flower pattern so that the dress is more to my liking (I’m not a fan of gold). I haven’t decided exactly what I am going to shoot with this yet, but it will be something awesome 😉

I’m also currently selling some of my clothes here, if you are interested!

Thanks for reading!

My Favourite Pictures and Memories from May

Hi everyone!

It’s been a while since I posted. Life has been quite chaotic recently and May was a very busy month!

This post is actually part of a swap on Swap-Bot called ESG: My favourite picture of the month May. I generally sign up for these every month so I thought it would be nice to do them as a blog post from now on.

This first one was from our monthly Goth event called Attrition. I don’t like my smile but just thought that this was an awesome photo because it shows that Goths can also be happy!

The second photo was taken at Geekfest. I had a stall there on both days and on the first day my boyfriend and I were dressed as vikings.

The third photo is from my graduation! We are still waiting for the official photos, but we took this before the ceremony.

The last photo is from Iron Maiden’s The Book Of Souls Tour Johannesburg show. We had been waiting for this day for almost a year! They are my boyfriend’s favourite band and we never thought we would get the chance to see them in South Africa. We hope we get another chance to see them soon.

These were my favourite photos and memories from May! I hope you enjoyed them. I am going to try to post more often!

Attrition!

So I know it’s a bit delayed, but I’d like to share the photos from Attrition.

Attrition was this past Sunday and the theme was Vampirates!

I can’t wait for next Attrition! I will also be DJing there for the first time! I was supposed to DJ on Sunday but we had some technical difficulties with my music which will be sorted for next time.

The Best Birthday Weekend Ever

I turned 21 on Friday, and thanks to the amazing people in my life, it was the best birthday I’ve ever had. I’ve never really had a good birthday before but this year, despite it not going according to plan (at all), it was so much fun.

On Thursday morning, I found out that the actual Iron Throne from Game of Thrones was in Sandton City for a few days, so I immediately dropped everything and went!

I’m so glad I had the time to go and see it. It was definitely worth it!

On Friday, I went for breakfast with my mother at a cute cafe near our house. Afterwards, the family gave me my presents, which included a beautiful antique vanity cabinet that I had my eye on for a while, and some Inglot makeup!

My boyfriend arrived around noon (he had taken the day off work) and we went to Ocean Basket for cocktails and lunch. When we got home, he helped me rearrange my room so that the vanity cabinet would fit and then we had a picnic outside in the garden until late. Unfortunately he couldn’t give me my present because the post office has been on strike for almost 2 months, and my present is stuck there, but he bought me beautiful roses and showed me what he bought me:

I really hope the corset arrives soon! I’m so excited to wear it for the first time!

On Saturday morning I had breakfast with my father at a retro restaurant in Lynnwood Bridge. After that, my boyfriend and me went to Sexpo, which honestly was a huge disappointment, but it was our first time going, so at least we know now. That evening, we went to Dark Noise’s Witches & Warlocks Party. It was a very quiet event, but all my friends were there, including some who drove almost an hour to be there and we had lots of fun. I also took my brother with because he was turning 18 on Sunday.

Sunday was basically my recovery day and time to finish projects for university, so I stayed in bed all day.

Thank you to everyone who made this weekend wonderful!
